AMD K8 Processor
A system scan indicates that my processor driver needs updating but on downloading the file CPU_Hotfix_xp.zip the readme file gives this version as 1.3.2.0 which is the same version of my current driver any thougts?

The second issue I have is that there is no setup or install file included within the .zip all it contains are three files amdk8 files with a suufix of .cat, .inf and .sys See attachment AMD.bmp

How are these files supposed to be installed.

First time I've used this service so my initial concerns that I'm not too impressed.

Can any one help on this one. Huh

Attached File(s)
.bmp  AMD.bmp (Size: 109.31 KB / Downloads: 18)

RE: AMD K8 Processor
Some drivers come without an installer, in such case you need to install from the Device Manager by choosing to update an existing driver and pointing to driver files, or through Windows Control Panel > Add Hardware and again pointing to the .inf file during the process.

Anyway if it's same version or if you are not having any problems that could be affected by this driver, I'd suggest to ignore this particular driver update.

RE: AMD K8 Processor
As it is the same version of the Driver why does Device Doctor indicates it needs updating?Huh

After all the whole purpose of using the service is to identify out of date drivers - I'm still perplexed as what reliance can I place on other recommended updates?Huh

I can't say anything about this particular problem as for that I'd have to investigate the issue on your computer directly but generally speaking errors can happen. As far as I'm aware no general driver updater on the market achieves 100% accuracy. There is a lot of dependency on how manufacturers follow standards and so on.
