Music Portable DD
Quest: Downloaded the DD Portable to be used with a removable drive
(Thumb). Have the zipped DD saved in the Document file and need help
on transfering it to my Thumb drive - such as: should it be unzipped before the transfer, etc. Thanks for any help or steps on what should be done at this time! Moria

RE: Portable DD
Hi Moria,

it doesn't matter whether you unzip on harddrive and move the unzipped files to thumb drive, or move archive to thumb drive and unzip there.

Only after files were unzipped you can run DeviceDoctor.exe. (Running it from within zip archive will not work.)

RE: Portable DD
Hi Tom, Thanks for info., I dragged the downloaded DD, (zipped) file, into my USB (Thumb) drive folder and unzipped (extracted) it there. Next, I ran a scan for updates and received approx. 10 devices that need updates. Quest: There's a few that show doubles - ie: Radeon 9600 Series Secondary and Radeon 9600 Series; PS/2 Compatible Mouse and HID Compliant Mouse. Need assist on which to update! Also, received 1.1mb DD version instead of the 5.1mb DD version -
what happened? Thanks for any answer! ~M~

RE: Portable DD
Thanks Tom, I dragged the zipped DD download into my USB folder before extracting (unzip). Then ran a scan for updates. Results showed 10 drivers that need updating. Quest: There's a couple that show doubles,
ie: Radeon 9600 Series Secondary; Radeon 96 Series; PD/2 Compatible Mouse - HID Compliant Mouse. Didn't update anything - need advice on
which ones to update! Will check back later. ~~M~~

RE: Portable DD
You are welcome.
If there are doubles, choose those that best match the type (description) of your hardware.
If in doubt, don't update. As long as your devices are working fine, it's not necessary to update their drivers.

It seems the standalone version is not available for download now, only bundle is. Both have same functionality, I'd advise to keep the one that you have already.

RE: Portable DD
Thanks again Tom, everything is working fine with setup of the Portable-DD. Will check out the devices in my system before attempting any updates and report back how things went - later! I'm just learning the steps of your website. Will try out the 'Unsubscribe from this thread' feature in a few days.
