device doctor not working with no internet

I was trying to update drivers on an old HP laptop I could not get the Internet to run so followed the instructions to get the information on a computer without Internet connection. It Appeared to run correctly on the Hp but when I brought across the file to my Toshiba could not get the retrieve drivers link to execute. It was not centered on the screen only appeared as a small block at the left of the line. I assume that the block in actually a program to create a link any help would be appreciated
