Bad first DD experience

So the DD scan of my system found a sound card driver update which wound up not only crashing Windows, but making it so Windows would not even boot. Forget the blue screen of death, this was the BLACK screen of death...giving us several panicked hours of thinking I would either need to re-install Windows or get a whole new HD, of which both scenarios meant my losing a ton o' crap. Fortunately, hours later, Windows decided to inexplicably boot up normally.
I know I made mistakes here, and I can also tell DD is a legit and helpful service for most. But Im just saying the driver update DD found for me was anything but helpful...not a good recommendation here, sorry.
