Direct X 9.0c compatible graphics card

Hi, I normally stick to platform games but I recently bought a game called
Terraria only for pc, and my laptop is WAY out of date, i need a Direct X 9.0c compatible graphics card and I'm having problems with this program. I have 24 out of date drivers (WOW). So I go to download them, and it has been downloading for 2 days(the part before it takes you to the website to actually download them to your computer), but if your not sure on whats wrong, I would just like to know how to download a Direct X 9.0c compatible graphics card thats the only one i really care about. But It can be higher then that too, I just want to be able to play the game so a Direct X 9.0c compatible graphics card or higher.
