404 errors: drivers.devicedoctor.com down?
I'm currently looking to see which driver monitoring software best fits my needs. On paper at least, DeviceDoctor looks like the best option so far, but unfortunately... it does nothing.

On running a scan on my (internet connected) machine, it reports:
Network error Wrote:This application requires connection to the driver service. The exact error was:

22 The requested URL returned error: 404

Would you like to export your scan results to a file which can be moved to an Internet-enabled computer?
[Yes] [No]

This "offline mode" in itself is a cool and considerate feature that delighted me. For a moment I even hoped it'd let me see *exactly* what info was being sent (the kind of privacy delight that would've made me sing its praises from the rooftops!), but it turned out to be sending unintelligible binary data. Still, pretty darn cool anyway, and I can always hope for plaintext-over-https version in the future.

So I clicked "Yes", and the web page that was generated had a "Show my drivers" button that sent me to "http://drivers.devicedoctor.com/show_exporter_drivers/v1/".

But that page is currently 404.

So far, my review of different driver checking programs has shows DD to be the best on paper, apart from the fact that it's completely non-functional.

RE: 404 errors: drivers.devicedoctor.com down?
There was a short-term problem with the website over weekend I'm sorry, that's why the download link returned 404, it should work now.

Plaintext-over-https, I'm not sure how feasible but I have forwarded your suggestion to developers, thank you for the feedback.

Still not working for me.

We are investigating the problem, it seems to be with this one link only, I'll post once I have an update.
In the meantime, if it's the portable version you are using, you can instead try the standard version, and note the links it opens and copy/paste them over to the computer with working internet connection.

RE: 404 errors: drivers.devicedoctor.com down?
The service at http://drivers.devicedoctor.com/show_exp...rivers/v1/ for offline driver retrieval had to be shut down as it broke and it was not easy to fix I'm sorry.
It was only used in old version of Device Doctor. Please update to the latest Device Doctor version from http://www.devicedoctor.com/device-doctor-download.php

RE: 404 errors: drivers.devicedoctor.com down?
The original problem report was a 404 from within the programme, not the offline page at http://drivers.devicedoctor.com/show_exp...ivers/v1/. From the error message, I think DewiMorgan is using the non-bundled installer version of the software, which no longer works.

Device Doctor sysadmins have obviously turned off (either deliberately or by accident) older API service (such that it gives 404 errors rather than a helpful message); the only solution at the moment is to install the bundled version (DeviceDoctor_Bundle.exe), which seems to be an entirely updated version.

im not sure what you mean by "short-term" in the rest of the real world its actualy called "frequently down" ......

its been down the last few days and randomly down whenever i try and use device doctor.

is doctor portable different somehow then the installed version because its down more times then its up. ..
atleast in my experiance.
shame too cuz device doctor is better then the rest of the crap out there.
