Vista - "Sound, Video, and Game Controller" tab is missing

i have compaq f700 , using vista
Vista - "Sound, Video, and Game Controller" tab is missing and i am getting an error message like no audio out put device installed, i use to get sound before idk wht happen i am not getting now,
can anyone please help me,
